特徴的な点はiTunesで再生できる曲とWMEで再生できる曲の両方を再生する事が出来ます。また、iPodとの同期も可能な模様。

参照元の記事後半ではDRMの話に触れ、音楽会社で取り決めたことと、技術の間にギャップが出来たので、埋めて見せますという考えで作ったようです。
EMIがDRMなしで配信を始めるというのが少し前にも記事になりましたが、各社が続くでもなく、DRMの話は一服ついているようですね。
