MacBookのファームもアップデートという話。

A number of MacBook owners have had their MacBooks intermittently randomly shut down on them, an issue which has come to be known as MacBook RSS (Random Shutdown Syndrome). In a recent summary of the issue, including a pending class-action lawsuit, AppleInsider quotes Ogrady's PowerPage that nails down the root cause of the issue to the following:

MacBook RSS症状が解消しますというファームらしいです。
RSSとはRandom Shutdown Syndromの略らしいですが、呼んで字の如くに不規則にシャットダウンを引き起こすようです。そういえば、うちのMacでもシャットダウンを行いますと促すメッセージを何度か見たし、実際、シャットダウンが起こるようなこともあったと思います。

ちなみに

Note: If your MacBook is running Mac OS X 10.4.6, you won't be able to see the SMC Update until you update to Mac OS X 10.4.8. Once you have updated your system software, the SMC Update will appear as an option in Software Updates.
MacBooks running Mac OS X 10.4.7 will be able to download and install the SMC Update, so it is not essential that you update your system software, although Apple always recommends updating to the latest version of the system software.

MacOSX10.4.6だとアップグレード出来ないらしいので、10.4.8までアップグレードしましょうとのことです。アップルもアップグレードを推奨してますとの文言でしめられてますし、利用者の方アップグレードしましょう。私も帰ったらします :D
